Port Chester / Rye Brook respond to House Fire
Wednesday, January 4, 2012
-
Port Chester Fire Engines 58,63,64, Ladder 31, Rescue-40, Cars 2391, 2392, 2393 along with Rye Brook Fire Ladder 30 were dispatched by 60 Control to 19 Rockridge Dr. in the Village of Rye Brook for a report of an unknown type fire in a home.

Rye Brook PD confirmed the working fire with flames showing through the roof, and out two rear windows.

Car 2393 upgraded the initial assignment bringing in Engine 62 and Utility 65.

L-30 the first FD unit to arrive on scene made an aggressive attack with the help of arrriving PCFD companies, making for a fairly quick knockdown.

Units were intially hampered by two frozen fire hydrants in the area but quickly located additional which provided water supply.

There were no injuries reported and the 2 elderly residents home at the time were removed prior, by a passing Mailman with the help from the first arriving RBPD unit.

The fire appears to be accidental at this time.

The above is an example of the two departments working together as one to get the job done.

-Have a pre-established meeting place outside the home

-NEVER re-enter your home after exiting

-Make sure your home is equipped with working Carbon Monoxide detectors

-If you have a fresh cut Christmas tree, check the water level,if the tree is dry, throw it out, most trees are cut prior to Thanksgiving.

The Port Chester FD,was requested to assist the West Harrison FD at the scene of a working structure fire,312 Columbus ave,in West Harrison.

Members of E-64 responded to assist, with ventilation, search and extinguishment of the fire, while assisting members of the West Harrison,Purchase, and N.White Plains FD.

Conditions were difficult with heavy rain and wind, but as always the PCFD completed the job.Another fine example,of the Departments from the Sound Shore of West Chester working hand in hand. L-31 relocated to stand-by in West Harrison FD,in case of any other calls.
